Shoei v Arai v Nexx Comparison
Welcome to our comparison of Nexx vs Arai vs Shoei. We have lots of customers asking how Arai, Shoei and Nexx helmets compare in terms of fit. Lots of motorcyclists talk of having an 'Arai head' or a 'Shoei head', but what does this mean?
The majority of Arai helmets are designed to what they call the 'intermediate oval' head shape. The dimensions of the helmets are longer front to back, than side to side. The term 'Arai head' tends to translate to this oval shape. Shoei helmets, however, tend to be more 'round', with the side to side and front to back dimensions being more equal than Arai. The 'Shoei head' is more often than not rounder than the 'Arai head'. The Arai shape is typically the least common and we find that most people who wear Arai, fit well into a Shoei, Shark or Nexx. Only a very small proportion of people have a head shape which can only fit one brand of helmet.
The Nexx XR1R Carbon and Nexx XR1R share the same shell shape, with the XR1R Carbon having a one piece, 100% carbon shell, compared to the tri-composite blend of carbon, kevlar and fibreglass for the XR1R. Nexx have tried to accommodate the majority of riders by designing both helmets to a neutral shape. We find that Nexx have achieved what they set out to do, since we have a negligible amount of either helmet returned to us. Our returns policy means that if you buy any of our helmets and it doesn't fit, you can return it for a different size or a full refund. Check out our sizing guide, to see which size will fit you.
